FALL/WINTER 2018 Internships:

Transformer provides the community with an extensive rotating exhibition and programming schedule. We are seeking interns to assist our Exhibitions and Development team to organize, execute and cultivate around these detailed events and programs.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with space maintenance and installation prep
  • Greeting and engaging with gallery visitors
  • Providing assistance at exhibition openings and events; on and off-site
  • Updating and managing databases of donors and sponsors
  • Facilitating printing and mailings
  • Coordinating and organizing incoming donations
  • Assisting with record keeping
  • Supporting Transformer staff with additional administrative tasks

Requirements

  • Studio Art, Art History, Arts Administration or Arts Management degrees preferred
  • Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop and InDesign preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word & Excel) required
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Keen attention to detail
  • Positive attitude
  • Passion for contemporary art and the emerging local art scene

2018 Transformer Auction Assistant 

This is a Temporary Part-Time position starting MID-September – December 1, all applicants must be able to commit to 3 days a week + full-time work during the week of Auction Install (November 12 – 17) + auction de-install (Nov 19 - 21).

Transformer’s 15th Annual Silent Auction & Benefit Party Assistant (“Auction Assistant”) works alongside the Exhibitions & Programs Manager to assist in coordinating all aspects of the nearly 200 artworks to be included in Transformer’s 15th Annual Silent Auction & Benefit Party as detailed below.

All tasks are to be completed under the direction of Transformer’s Executive & Artistic Director & The Exhibitions & Programs Manager, in tandem with other Transformer staff (Development Manager & Program Assistant) as needed.  Specific tasks include, but are not limited to:

AUCTION ARTWORK PLANNING & COORDINATION

  • Assist in coordinating all Auction Artwork communication with artists about Auction Artworks, including submissions, artwork info, artists’ contracts, delivery, install, de-install and pickup, and any other necessary paperwork;
  • Provide bi-weekly and/or weekly updates (as requested) on progress & status to Transformer’s Exhibitions & Programs Manager and respond to other on-going inquiries on progress in a timely manner;
  • Oversee Auction Artwork drop off & pick up at Transformer in coordination with Exhibitions & Programs Manager; Track any and all shipment/delivery of Auction Artwork and Auction Artwork related, such as receipt/return of Auction Artwork to artists, shipping/delivery of sold works to collectors;
  • Assist in overseeing all Auction Artwork installation and de-installation: provide physical install support, secure/coordinate interns, and volunteers for assistance, coordinate securing of install/de-install supplies as they relate to Auction Artwork planning, install, shipping & handling, presentation, and de-installation;
  • Assist in overseeing Auction Artwork bidding at the Auction, connect artists to potential bidders, engage gallerists to do the same; maintain Auction Artwork and related materials integrity throughout the Auction event.

AUCTION ARTWORK MATERIALS/DOCUMENTATION

  • Provide ongoing updated Auction Artwork lists, including images & artwork detail
  • Manage Auction Artwork intake forms and maintain binder of all auction agreements and1099s
  • Collect and edit artist bios
  • Generate bid sheets
  • Generate art-packaging labels
  • Coordinate with Exhibitions & Development to generate invoices as needed post-auction
  • Coordinate with Exhibitions Coordinator to archive all Auction Artwork files & materials in hard copy & digital formats before end of contract

Requirements
