14th Annual Transformer Silent Auction & Benefit Party

Transformer’s primary fundraising event, the Annual Transformer Silent Auction & Benefit Party is an extension of our non-profit organization’s overall cutting-edge aesthetic. Regarded as the fall’s ‘not to be missed’ art event, our Annual Auction provides essential support for our comprehensive year-round exhibitions and educational programming.

A fantastic opportunity for both beginning and seasoned collectors to purchase some of DC’s best contemporary visual art, Transformer’s Auction brings together a smart and sophisticated guest list of artists, collectors, gallerists, entrepreneurs, and arts enthusiasts. Attendance has tripled since inception. Each year our Auction receives increased community and media attention, accompanied with sold-out attendance. More than 700 guests are anticipated to attend this year.

We are thrilled to present the 14th Annual Transformer Silent Auction & Benefit Party at the American University Katzen Arts Center, and honored to have His Excellency Mr. Lars G. Lose the Ambassador of Denmark & Mrs. Ulla Rønberg as our Diplomatic Chairs. As part of 2017 cultural exchange programs with Denmark, Transformer is excited to feature a special selection contemporary artworks by Danish artists in this year’s Auction.

The Auction will feature 150+ artworks by emerging & established artists, nominated by a committee of their peer artists and arts leaders, including Nakeya Brown, Artist; Meryn Chimes, National Gallery of Art Exhibition Assistant; Edgar Endress, Artist & George Mason University Associate Professor Director, Graduate Programs; Hedieh Ilchi, Artist & American University Adjunct Professorial Lecturer; Nate Lewis, Artist; Justin Plakas, Artist & GWU/Corcoran Visiting Assistant Professor of Fine Arts; Caitlin Teal Price, Artist & American University Adjunct Professorial Lecturer; Ginevra Shay, The Contemporary, Artistic Director; Naoko Wowsugi, Artist & American University Professorial Lecturer; and Transformer staff & Board of Directors.

Transformer’s Auction is supported by a diverse range of DC community and business leaders, as well as an illustrious Host Committee, chaired this year by: Lisa Brown, Kate Damon, Carole Feld, Izette Folger, Deborah Kalkstein, Janice Kim, Amy Kuhnert, Allison Marvin, Semi Nasseri, Dana Rooney, Juliana Stein, and Blair Wunderlich.
